Craft without the convention

Every piece here is made using the same techniques as Odara's ethnic collections — Kundan setting, meenakari enamel, hand-cut stones, oxidised silver work. What changes is the form. A Kundan setting on a strict geometric plane, a temple motif abstracted until only its rhythm remains, a drop built from repeated elements rather than a single ornament.

This is a genuinely different intent from the modern edit, which takes traditional designs and makes them lighter. Contemporary pieces are not simplified versions of anything — they are designs that could only have been made now, by people who know the old rules well enough to set them aside.

Who these suit

Anyone whose jewellery is the most expressive thing they wear. These pieces work best against plain clothes — a single-colour kurta, a well-cut dress, a plain silk blouse — because they need visual space to read properly. Worn against a busy print, the form gets lost and you have bought a shape that nobody can see.

They are also the easiest Odara pieces to wear outside an Indian-dress context, which makes them the ones customers most often buy for themselves rather than for an occasion.

Buying a statement pair

Choose one focal point. A sculptural earring wants a bare neck or the thinnest possible chain — a broad neckpiece will fight it, and both pieces lose. Similarly, if the earrings are asymmetric or unusually shaped, keep rings and bangles quiet.

Check the drop length on the product page against your usual necklines and hair. A long sculptural drop reads completely differently with hair up versus down, and it is worth knowing which you intend before ordering.

Care

Sculptural pieces have more edges and joins than a simple drop, which means more places for plating to wear and more places to catch on fabric. Store them flat in individual pouches rather than hanging or jumbled, and put them on after dressing rather than pulling clothes over them.

Common questions

Are these handmade? Yes — the setting and finishing work is done by hand, which is why no two pieces in a design are quite identical.

Will they still look current in a few years? These are design-led rather than trend-led. The forms come out of craft rather than out of a season, which tends to age better than a fashion silhouette.
