Building a complete bridal look
A full Indian bridal set is assembled, not bought in one box, and the order matters. Start with the neckpiece, because it is the largest piece and everything else is matched to its gold tone and stone colour. A broad Kundan or temple choker anchors the look; a long rani haar or matar-bead layer sits over it.
Then the maangtika, worn on the hair parting, or a mathapatti, which extends across the forehead and is the more elaborate choice. Odara sells many earring-and-maangtika pairs together for exactly this reason.
The nath — nose ring — varies most by region and community, from a small stud to a broad hoop with a supporting chain hooked into the hair. Sizes are listed on each product page.
Kaanchain or ear chains run from the earring to the hair and take the weight off the earlobe, which is what makes a heavy bridal jhumka wearable for a full day.
Sheeshphool sits at the back of the head over the bun or braid. A kamarbandh or waistbelt finishes the look at the saree or lehenga waist. Odara also stocks men's malas and kadas, so the groom's side is covered from the same collection.
Bride, family, or guest
The collection is priced to serve all three. Bridal statement sets sit in the ₹8,000–₹16,000 range: broad, layered, and built to hold their own against heavy silk and a photographer's lighting. Family and bridesmaid pieces run ₹3,000–₹7,000 — a single strong choker or long set rather than a full parure. Guest pieces start at ₹800, where a good pair of jhumkas and a slim bangle stack is genuinely enough.
The most common mistake is everyone in the family wearing statement-scale jewellery. Let the bride carry the weight, and dress the party a level down.
When to order
Order at least three to four weeks before the function. This is not a stock warning — it is so you have time to see the pieces together in daylight, check that the gold tones actually match across separately-bought items, and exchange anything that reads differently in person than it did on screen. Buying the neckpiece first and matching the rest to it, in hand, avoids nearly every mismatch problem.
Care before the day
Keep everything in individual pouches until the morning. Do not "test" heavy pieces repeatedly — dori ties and stringing loosen with handling. Put jewellery on last, after makeup, perfume and hair spray have fully dried, and have someone else fasten the neckpiece so the tie-back is not stretched.
Common questions
Do bridal sets include earrings? Yes — neckpiece sets include matching earrings, and many include a maangtika. The product images show exactly what is in the set.
Can I match pieces bought separately? Usually, but not always: gold plating varies subtly between production runs. Buy the neckpiece first and match to it.
Is there jewellery for the groom? Yes — malas, kadas and rings are in the Men's Collection.
